‘S not every day that you get to dig deep into a little or never talked about subject: boogers.

Children’s author, Paula Schechter, has come up with a unique way to teach your little ones good nose manners by creating The Snot Monster!

As Paula explains, “It’s something you don’t learn in school.”

Don’t be surprised, if after listening to this episode, you might discover your own Snot Monster!

And, in case you don’t know how to make a tissue dance, ask your 5-year-old!

The Book

Who among us can honestly say they have NEVER picked their nose? Would you like to inspire your children to get rid their boogers in a socially acceptable manner? If it takes the threat of a Snot Monster under their bed to make them do so, then this is the book to read them. You’re welcome.

5 Star Review

Charming lesson on a yucky problem for kids AND adults!
I couldn’t imagine anybody could write a charming instructional tale featuring SNOT.
But here it is! From the light, upbeat tone that puts the monster idea in its place, to the very useful instruction about nose picking, The Snot Monster is super fun.
The illustrations are cheerful and cute, and the kiddos giggle right along.
My (usually) very grown-up boyfriend even got excited when he read about “ghost pickers”.
“That’s me!” he exclaimed, when he read it with us. Who knew?
Paula Schechter has come up with Avery unlikely gem on a normally gross subject, and the future titles she touts on the back of the book look like winners, too.
We’re waiting

About Paula

“Humor is always a good starting point to approach a topic with kiddos. I hope my books will open doors to many conversations!”

Paula Schechter is the mother of one son. Max, who turned 20 the year her children’s picture book, The Snot Monster, was published through Amazon in 2022. The book will be the first in a series that encourages good social behavior. However, her idea for The Snot Monster originated 30 years earlier, before becoming a mom. The series will be comprised of funny stories to illustrate positive ways to behave and open conversation topics between adults and children.

Born in California, she began a career in public relations in her early twenties after graduating from college. Her creativity and storytelling led to a lifelong love of reading and writing. As a keen observer of people and situations, it steered her to identify the need for an entertaining, friendly way to help parents, grandparents, and caregivers address unwelcome behaviors. Future titles will include a wide range of topics, and the public is welcome to suggest subjects for future titles.

“As a single working mom, since my son was one year old, I must have done something right because he is AWESOME! Of course, through the years, we had our moments, but good parenting, combined with luck, led Max to be a kind, loving, intelligent, well-mannered young adult. He navigates life and knows when to ask for help. So yep, I am a very proud mamma,” Paula stated.

“Back in the day, I’m talking middle school; I was on the speech team and competed in both children and humor categories. As a mom, I drew upon those days during bedtime stories with my son. I used voices for each character and lots of animated expressions. I plan to record audio eBooks for each title and hope you enjoy listening to them as much as I will enjoy creating them,” Paula added.

Her biggest hobby and passion are growing succulents and arranging them. You can find her selling them at weekend Texas Hill Country farmer’s markets. “I destress in my greenhouse, where I have proclaimed myself the Propagation Queen. I also love to cook and can be found in the kitchen daily,” Paula added.
